The Ugly Duckling (RKO, 1939). One Sheet (27 X 41). Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animation, this was the last of Disneys Silly Symphonies shorts. It was a color remake of a 1931 black white Silly Symphony adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson tale. Mounted on linen, this piece has had some skillful restoration done, correcting edge wear and minor paper loss in the borders as well as several tears. Some of those tears are within the words Disney and Duckling themselves. On the whole, this poster looks great. The artwork, featuring the ducklings parents bewildered reactions to the hatching of their odd-looking baby, looks great and recalls the golden age of Disney animation. Fine.
