Bowery at Midnight (Monogram, 1942). One Sheet (27 X 41). In this entertaining low-budget shocker, Bela Lugosi plays a master criminal who uses a soup kitchen as a front for his gang, and lures ex-cons into joining him. His robberies tend to leave dead henchmen, however, but a scientist in Lugosis employ is somehow able to bring them back to zombified life. This Monogram quickie is a good showcase for Bela, who revels in his characters dual identity. This fun one sheet features Lugosi casting a mesmer glare, and great shots of the rest of the cast. The sheet had edge wear and small tears in the top border, fold separations, a small divot in Lugosis collar (post-restoration), and writing on the reverse that bleeds through, but professional restoration has rendered all of these virtually invisible. Also, the linen has been trimmed to the edge of the poster, and has resulted in a small amount of paper loss at the edge. A great-looking poster for Lugosi fans everywhere. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
