Caption:
Convict 13 (Metro, 1920). One Sheet (27 X 41). He is hailed as the greatest of all the silent comedians, but more than that he was a true genius. Buster Keaton started out in comedy as a child performer and made his screen debut in 1917s The Butcher Boy with Fatty Arbuckle. Producer Joseph Schenck lured him away to create his own comedies. With creative freedom, Keaton was able to make some of the greatest silent comedies of all time. This poster is for a film that was only the second short film Buster Keaton made after parting company with Fatty Arbuckle to pursue his own career. The short also featured his father and sister in supporting roles. This is the only known copy of this poster to have survived. This sheet has had extensive restoration to the title area, minimally to image area and borders have been replaced and restored. The image other than title area was intact when found. The colors on the poster had faded due to exposure and have been enhanced through restoration. The poster displays as in excellent condition. Fair/Good on Linen.
