Caption:
Dark Town Follies (Supreme Distributing, 1930). One Sheet (27 X 41). , The originator of an amazing percussive heel drop tap-jazz technique used by great dancers through the years all the way up to Michael Jackson (who openly admitting studying him) was a man who gave Fred Astaire himself tap lessons in 1920. Hes featured on the right of this rarer than rare original issue states rights 1930 poster for one of the six Buck and Bubbles two-reelers made from 1929-30. His name was John William Sublett (Bubbles). Thats Ford Washington Lee on the left (Buck, master of the stride piano). Whats interesting to note is Buck and Bubbles were not only the first black artists to perform at Radio City Music Hall, they were the first black artists in Television history, appearing in London on 2 Nov 1936! The poster has been professionally restored on linen to repair the borders. There was some fold wear and small chips. There were chips in the right and left borders, and a chip in the bottom left corner. Dont miss this opportunity to own a cornerstone piece of musical performance history. Fine on Linen.
