Folly of Vanity (Fox, 1924). One Sheet (27 X 41). , Betty Blythes star was rising fast in the 1920s, especially after her stunning performance in the high production film Queen of Sheba (which we are selling a one sheet from, in this auction). Here she plays a vamp who comes between married couple Billie Dove and Jack Mulhall. The real draw of this interesting film is a fantasy sequence (which was given rare color tinting) which depicts Doves dream of a trip to Neptunes underwater kingdom where she is feted until it is discovered that her pearl necklace has left a mark of vanity around her neck. Of course this leads her to reconcile with her estranged husband when she awakens, and all is forgiven. This very dramatic stone litho one sheet is a stunning gem. It has been professionally restored to address tears and chips in three borders, a chip in the top left corner, fold wear, and two larger chips and a tear in the left side of the image. The colors are exceedingly rich for a poster of this age and the poster now displays very well. Very Good on Linen.
