Caption:
Gene of the Northland (Universal, 1915). One Sheet (27 X 41). , One of the most successful studios of all time, Universal, was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, a German immigrant and later an entrepreneur from the mid-West. Posters from the early days of this important company are scarce to say the least. Offered here is an original poster for an unknown short Western starring Gene Gauntier and Jack J. Clark, and is in exceptionally nice condition. A gorgeous stone litho one sheet, it is mounted on muslin, as was the custom in the early days of cinema. As these posters were often reused for multiple venues, the muslin made them more durable than they would otherwise have been. A small bit of the left and right edges have been folded, and there is a light smudge at the bottom border, but otherwise this rare and historically significant poster is pristine. Very Fine on Muslin.
