Grey Gardens (Portrait Releasing, Inc., 1976). Full-Bleed One Sheet (27 X 41). , The International Documentary Association (IDA) ranks the Maysles Brothers Grey Gardens as number nine among the top documentaries of all time. It has been honored at the Edinburgh, Cannes, and New York film festivals. The film pulls back the curtain on two reclusive socialites, a mother and daughter both named Edith Bouvier Beale, who lived at the decrepit Grey Gardens mansion in East Hampton, New York for more than fifty years. The Beales were relatives of former U.S. First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, and let the mansion and grounds fall into serious disrepair by the early 1970s. The house was infested with fleas, cats and raccoons, lacked running water, and was filled with garbage. After the The National Enquirer and New York Magazine exposed their living conditions, the Suffolk County Health Department inspected the home, and the women faced eviction. The daughter, Edith, stands defiantly in front of her sagging abode wrapped in an ankle length fur coat, an image by photographer Herb Goro. There is a small bit of vertical creasing, and a top right corner bend. This is a very rare poster that is seldom seen at auction. Rolled, Very Fine+.
