Caption:
Laughter (Paramount, 1930). One Sheet (27 X 41) Style B. , Shot in Paramount-Publix Studios in Astoria, New York, the film is considered a formative precursor to the screwball comedies of the 1930s and is a romantic comedy of a former Follies dancer (Nancy Carroll), who marries for money and finds that the wealthy life leaves so much to be desired. Her former flame (Fredric March), returns to carry her away to Paris to a life of laughter, but can she leave? The film was nominated for Best Writing at the 1931 Academy Awards. This stone litho one sheet with a great pre-Code tagline is amazingly beautiful. It has had paper added to the borders where they had been trimmed by one half an inch, though not coming near nor affecting the image at all. This is a very rare and wonderful depiction of a young Nancy Carroll and Fredric March, in a role he considered one his best for the remainder of his life! Very Fine- on Linen.
