Love and Doughnuts (Associated Producers, 1921). One Sheet (27 X 41). , In 1917, cross-eyed comedian Ben Turpin joined the leading comedy company, the Mack Sennett studio. Turpins crude slapstick style fit well with Sennetts brand of film making, and the actor was often cast against type and in spoofs of serious actors and celebrities of the day. Turpins success lasted about a decade, and as the sound age dawned, the funnyman decided to retire. This one sheet is a rare find from the comediennes heyday and a first time offering by Heritage. Rich color and beautiful lithography are the appeal of this classic silent era poster, which has the benefit of restoration. The borders were slightly trimmed but restored very well, and touchup has been applied to the folds and pinholes in the background. Fine on Linen.
