Sold to the midwife after birth, these co-joined twins were physically abused by the midwife and later the midwife's sister/family. They died together in poverty, thanks to the stealing from their agents. Physicians say they could have been separated, but they chose to die together and did so.

Hilton Sisters - Siamese Twins (Quigley Publications, 1925). One Sheet (28 X 42). , This is a stock vaudeville poster for the famous Hilton Twins of Freaks fame, most likely for a tour just after they sued their managers to gain self-representation. Their lives were fascinating and horrific at the same time. Exploited almost since birth, they should have had millions for retirement, but died in poverty. Especially interesting was the fact that after medical science progressed to the point where they could easily have been successfully separated, they refused, vowing to die together, which they did. This stone lithography image of the twins was printed by the Quigley Company, Kansas City, Missouri. The borders have been airbrushed to address a sliver of missing paper in the left border, a 1/2 of missing paper in the bottom border, and chips in the right border. Touchup has been applied to the folds and to tears and chips in the image area. Fine- on Linen.
