One Sheet (27.25 X 41). , Heritage is delighted to offer for only the second time this one sheet from 20th Century Foxs smash hit follow-up to Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Hound of the Baskervilles (1938), starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Set in Victorian England (all of the later Universal films would be set in contemporary time), it matches Sherlock Holmes (Rathbone) against his arch rival, Professor Moriarty, who is set to steal the Crown Jewels. Co-starring Ida Lupino and George Zucco as Moriarty, this classic film would set the benchmark for all of the twelve other films made at Universal Studios in the series. Interestingly enough, this was the only entry in the film series not based on a Doyle story, but on the famous stage play by William Gillette. Careful restoration has corrected random pinholes, small chips along the folds, chips and gouges in the borders, and a crease across the top. A very fine looking piece for Homes enthusiasts!
