The Black Pirate (United Artists, 1926). One Sheet (27 X 41). Douglas Fairbanks superb acrobatic skills were on full display in this classic silent epic. The film is very important as it was the first feature shot in the two-strip Technicolor process. This poster is considered the better of the two styles and is one of the most sought after one sheets of the silent era. Last fall, Heritage auctioned the other style of this one sheet for an impressive $17,250.00. The poster has had repair to several border chips as well as a few in the background of the image. All of these are quite minor as the significant graphics on this poster are intact with brilliant color. There is a small amount of color touch to the folds with a bit more to the center-points including a small bit of airbrush work done to Fairbanks chest. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
