It features the multi-talented Lucille Ball, sensational as Mark Stevenss girl Friday in this taut and very enjoyable film noir. Stevens plays an ex-con turned private detective who is framed for the murder of his former partner Kurt Krueger. Clifton Webb is typically delightful as a jealous husband with dark thoughts on his mind, and William Bendix is his lurking henchman. With lines like There goes my last lead. I feel all dead inside. Im backed up in a dark corner, and I dont know whos hitting me, this film has all the fear and paranoia of the best of the genre. This professionally restored one sheet had pinholes in the corners and light fold wear, but these imperfections do not detract from its moody, noir imagery. Very Fine on Linen.
