The Hour Before the Dawn (Paramount, 1944). One Sheet (27 X 41) Style A. , A gorgeously haunting image of Veronica Lake fills this moody one sheet inspired by the film based on the novel by Somerset Maugham. A taut thriller set in England during WWll, the picture features Lake as a Nazi spy in disguise as an Austrian refugee. She marries a wealthy pacifist, Jim Hetherton (Franchot Tone) in an attempt to locate a secret military base. The film has a fine script and strong acting, however, audience members at the time were not pleased with their screen idol Lake portraying a Nazi and the film was not a success at its release. The poster has been restored, with touch-up to the folds, small chips in the folds and borders, and slight paper loss in the bottom horizontal fold. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
