Caption:
The Mollycoddle (United Artists, 1920). One Sheet (27 X 41). After finishing his first costume swashbuckler The Mark of Zorro, Douglas Fairbanks reverted to his standard formula with this contemporary action comedy. Fairbanks plays the title character, a dandified American, returning to his Wild West home after being educated in England. Suspected of being little more than a pantywaist, Doug proves his grit by capturing notorious desperado Wallace Beery. The previous year, Fairbanks began a partnership with Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin and director D.W. Griffith called United Artists. The stars planned on taking control from the studios and producing and releasing their own films. This film was one of the first distributed by the foundling company. Offered in this lot is an original stone lithograph poster to this early Fairbanks-starring vehicle. The poster has minor crossfold and slight fold separation and wear at the borders, plus several small tears in the top border. There are pinholes in the upper corners, just inside the image and in the lower corners within the border. The poster is in amazingly nice condition and completely unrestored. Very Fine.
