Caption:
The Ranch of Hoodoos (Fred J. Balshofer, 1926). One Sheet (26.5 X 41). , This beauty features stone litho artwork of silent actor Fred Church in all his Western glory, astride his trusty mount and ready to rustle up the bad guys. A native of Ontario, Iowa, Church became a vaudeville performer and stage actor and spent several years traveling the country in various stock productions. Hired by Essanay and various other studios, he became quite popular as an action star. The arrival of sound hastened his retirement in the mid-thirties, but this cowboy lived another half century, dying at the ripe old age of 93! Prior to restoration, this poster showed fold wear, paper loss in the top border, and a chip in the left border. A fine piece of nostalgia for both Western and silent film. Fine+ on Linen.
