Caption:
The Rink (Mutual, 1916). One Sheet (24 X 37.5). Considered one of the masters greatest shorts, Charlie Chaplins 2-reel comedy The Rink was based on a sketch Chaplin had previously performed while a member of the Fred Karno stage troupe. Chaplin plays a waiter who determines what his customers have had for dinner by checking the food spots on their clothes. After quitting time, Chaplin retires to the ice skating rink, where his skill and grace catches the eye of pretty socialite Edna Purviance. This film was the eighth of Chaplins golden dozen short subjects filmed during his stay at Mutual Studios (1916 and 1917). This is the only known copy of this poster and one of the few existing original posters from any Chaplin short subjects prior to 1920! This poster was at one time mounted on a rigid surface and has since been removed and put on linen. There was some fold wear but most of the image is very much still intact. The borders have been trimmed as well. Good/Very Good on Linen.
