Caption:
The Riveter (RKO, 1940). One Sheet (27.25 X 41). , Disney fans, this lot represents a monumental collecting opportunity! Heritage has not presented the one sheet for The Riveter in over a decade, and this example was worth the wait. By 1937, the ill-tempered Donald Ducks popularity had surpassed that of the model citizen, Mickey Mouse, and Disney began to pour more time and money into producing the Ducks starring shorts. This short was one of his most popular at the time and remains a classic cartoon. Directed by Dick Lundy, one of the studios top animators and directors, he is the artist credited with creating Donalds screen personality. This wonderful perspective drawing of Donald atop a skyscraper in progress, shows him confronting Pegleg Pete, whom he always seemed to disturb. These graphics make this one of the top Duck posters of the era and one the greatest of any Disney poster. A highly coveted and elusive find, this one sheet has also had the benefit of professional restoration. Touchup was applied to the folds, and a top left corner bend. Bright, saturated color! Very Fine on Linen. , , Estimate: $5,000 - $10,000.
