The Scarlet Claw (Universal, 1944). One Sheet (27 X 41). , Its been said that The Scarlet Claw is the best film in the Sherlock Holmes series created at Universal, and the one sheet rarely turns up at auction. Roy William Neill, who directed the majority of Holmes pictures, crafted this thriller with suspense in the same style as the Universal horror pictures of Lon Chaney, Jr and Bela Lugosi (whom he directed in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man). As spine tingling as the film, the one sheet shows only minor wear: small crossfold separation with archival tape on the verso, two small red ink marks in the right border, and a tear in the right border with archival tape. Its been twelve years since weve offered another copy of this elusive poster! Folded, Very Fine-. , , Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000
