Caption:
The Shadow Strikes (Grand National, 1937). One Sheet (27 X 41). , Rod La Rocque stars in this fun mystery, which is the first feature film appearance of the the Shadow. While Lamont Granston, a lawyer/ investigator by day, the Shadow adopts his disguise at night to find the guilty and cloud their minds to remain hidden, laughing in the darkness. The character was a hit in both radio and pulp magazines of the 1930s. In this feature, the Shadow solves the murder of a wealthy scion, who had numerous enemies including his heirs. Lynn Anders, James Blakeley, and Walter McGrail co-star. Prior to professional restoration, this gorgeous one sheet had fold wear, slight crossfold separations, a small hole in the top right corner, a chip in the right border, and missing 1/2 inch along the top and bottom border. All has been restored, leaving the amazing pulp artwork to shine. Fine on Linen.
