Caption:
Skyrocket, The (Associated Exhibitors, 1926). One Sheet (27 X 41). This film was meant as a showcase for Peggy Joyce Hopkins, who was infamously known as a golddigger and showgirl with no decernable talent other than to marry and divorce wealthy men, thus ending each association with a healthy settlement. She is best remembered for her role playing herself in International House with a brief romantic entanglement involving her character with W.C. Fields. This film, though the names are changed, was really just a parody of Hopkins herself which the producers felt would turn a good profit just on the notoriety of her name. She was the model for Anita Loos anti-heroine of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Lorelei Lee. I may be expensive, Peggy once remarked, apropos of the wealthy husbands she acquired and discarded so lightly, but I deliver the goods. Very Fine/Rolled.
