Caption:
The Spendthrift (Path??, 1922). One Sheet (26.5 X 41). , The Spendthrift is one installment in the series of animated shorts known as Aesops Film Fables, created by legendary cartoonist Paul Terry. The series was launched in 1921 with The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs. The films met with great success, and even Walt Disney stated that his initial goal was to produce cartoons of equal quality to Terrys. Cats and mice featured prominently in the shorts, as well as Farmer Al Falfa, and each film ended with a moral that didnt necessarily have anything to do with the cartoon. This delightful stone litho loosely depicts the fable of the spendthrift and the swallow. Its early spring, and the broke spendthrift sees a swallow and assumes winter has ended. He goes and sells his coat, only to be left freezing the next day when a cold snap arrives. And the pearl of wisdom? One swallow does not make a summer! A fine looking poster (and a Heritage first time offer), touchup has been applied to the folds, pinholes in the borders, and a small cut can be detected at the left border extending into the image area. Very Fine- on Linen.
