Caption:
The Star Packer (Lone Star, 1934). One Sheet (27 X 41). , John Wayne stars as U.S. Marshal John Travers in this early Lone Star Western. Out to capture a mysterious outlaw chieftain known only as The Shadow, Travers becomes sheriff of a town where several unsolved murders have occurred. The stone litho poster presents beautifully with professional restoration but had trimmed borders as well as some chipping in the upper vertical and horizontal folds. There was some marker used to denote dates and theater just below the horses mouth, even with his neck and just below his saddle within his white coat. There was also a chip in the middle horizontal fold within the green and within the lower vertical fold. These early Wayne posters continue to be difficult to find and are actively sought by Western collectors. Very Good/Fine on Linen. , , Estimate: $2,500 - $5,000.
