Caption:
The Temple of Dusk (Mutual, 1918). One Sheet (28.25 X 41.25). , Silent Japanese star Sessue Hayakawa stars in this heartbreaking tale of love, honor, and betrayal. Hayakawa is in love with Jane Novak, a fatherless girl who has spent her youth with him and his family in their household in Japan. When an American (Lewis Willoughby) enters the picture, Novak forgets about Hayakawa and marries her new interest. Several events, including Willoughbys infidelity and the death of Novak, lead to Hayakawa moving to the United States to look over Novak and Willoughbys child, Blossom. The result of which is a touching and intimate look into the soul of an honorable man. Offered for the first time by Heritage, this beautiful stone litho poster features a terrific image of Hayakawa and Novak. Prior to restoration, it had chips and tears in three borders, and some paper loss slightly in the upper image and background. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
