Caption:
The Thin Man (MGM, 1934). One Sheet (27 X 41) Style C. , In 1934, William Powell and Myrna Loy starred in one of the most delightful mysteries ever filmed. Under the expert direction of W.S. Van Dyke, they played husband-and-wife sleuths that engaged in witty repartee and thrilling investigative work, aided and abetted by their precocious dog, Asta. Based on the best-selling novel by the great Dashiell Hammett (author of The Maltese Falcon), The Thin Man was the first in a long-running series of wonderful films starring Powell and Loy as Nick and Nora Charles. In this first (and best) entry, they investigate the disappearance and later, murder, of an inventor, who is actually the thin man of the title - and not Nick Charles. Offered here is the extremely rare style C one sheet for this classic film. This is the only copy of this style that we are aware of. Several of the other style D one sheets have surfaced over the years. This beautiful stone litho poster with its rich, vibrant color, was in excellent condition prior to the professional restoration, which addressed a small chip in the center crossfold, and a two inch tear in the background behind Powells head. In addition, there has been touchup to the folds. Very Fine- on Linen.
