Remarks:
Released in November of 1932, the same year that the Academy awarded Disney a special Oscar for his creation of a nationwide phenomenon, Mickey Mouse, this was his fifth mouse short for United Artists. Disney left Columbia this very year as they were unwilling to raise production costs for the series above $13,500 per short. After all, the country was in the depths of the Depression. Disney signed with UA and thus began, for poster collectors, the Golden Age of Mickey Mouse posters.

The Wayward Canary (United Artists, 1932). One Sheet (27 X 41). Disney signed with UA and thus began, for poster collectors, the Golden Age of Mickey Mouse posters. The UA posters are full color and often stone litho, as is this one sheet. There were only twelve United Artist/Mickey Mouse cartoons made; thus the run lasted less than two years. These posters have always been scarce and are the ultimate in Disney posters. This beautiful poster, mounted on linen, has had only the most minimal fold line touch-up. Very Fine+ on Linen.
