Caption:
Under Four Flags (U.S. Committee on Public Information, 1918). One Sheet (27 X 41). The third propaganda film produced by the U.S. government came out too late for its intended purpose, since the Armistice happened a week before the film was released. The documentary about U.S., French, British and Italian joint efforts in WWI was supplemented with celebration footage on its release. This one sheet has edge wear and tears, edge staining and a 6.5 tear in the bottom border. There are small chips in the image area, primarily in the torso of the French soldier. The poster has been mounted on linen and professionally restored, giving it a very clean appearance. Striking artwork by Martiny of the four representative soldiers. From the collection of Jim Ashton. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
