With General Custer at the Little Big Horn (Aywon Film, 1926). One Sheet (28.5 X 41). , While actor John Beck plays General George Custer in Little Big Horn, its silent screen cowboy actor Roy Stewart who receives top billing on this glorious stone litho. Stewart was known for his engaging, dimpled grin, proving to be a rugged hero, as can be seen in his portrayal of Indian scout Lem Hawks, in which he handles most of the heroics in the film. While the picture does not show Custers death, this one sheet features incredible battle imagery, with the General engaged in a gripping gun-versus-knife battle with the spectacularly adorned chief. Light touch up has been applied to tears in the bottom section, chipping in the borders, and very small spots of paper loss in the image area. This piece is stunning, and with the benefit of further restoration it will be a magnificent addition to any collection. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
