Caption:
Africa Speaks! (Mascot, 1930). One Sheet (27 X 41). Though Columbia Studios originally released this documentary about explorer Paul Hoefler, who leads a safari into central Africa and what was then called the Belgian Congo, they would soon pass off the states-rights to the smaller Mascot Studios. This gorgeous stone litho poster, using much more risque graphics than Columbia, was perhaps used to promote the same film in more rural regions of the country. Since Mascot was out of business by 1935, we can only believe that this poster must have been distributed not long after Columbias original opening. The poster has some paper loss in the upper crossfold with wear and minor chipping in the upper horizontal fold. There is some minor separation in the middle and lower crossfolds as well. The poster has some brown paper tape reinforcements on the backside. Very Good/Fine.00
