Caption:
Foreign Correspondent (United Artists, 1940). One Sheet (27 X 41). , One of Alfred Hitchcocks great espionage thrillers, this film is set in early World War II England and features several visually striking scenes, such as the shooting amongst a crowd of umbrella covered onlookers, windmills turning in different directions as a signal to agents, and the climactic plane crash. Joel McCrea is the everyman news reporter who becomes entangled with foreign spies connected to Herbert Marshall and his daughter Laraine Day. George Sanders, as a sardonic British agent, is a nice foil to the naive American. The film is based on Vincent Sheeans memoir, Personal History, and had several screenwriters throughout the production, including Ben Hecht and Robert Benchley. The poster has had minor touch-up in the foldlines with minor paper loss at the center crossfold. There was some extra creasing which appears to be a print error in the lower portion of the poster, below the credits. This is a very clean copy of this rare stone litho poster and the conservation work done was executed magnificently. Very Fine- on Linen.
