In the Sweet Pie and Pie (Columbia, 1941). One Sheet (27 X 41). From the Leonard and Alice Maltin Collection. , The Three Stooges, (Larry, Curly and Moe) are up to their usual antics as they dismantle society with their slapstick comedy. In this episode, they find themselves in prison (they are the Mushroom Murder Mob), awaiting execution for a crime they didnt commit. Suddenly, the day before they are to be hung, three socialites (Tiska, Taska and Baska) show up and marry the boys. Unknown to them however, the girls are only marrying them so they can collect on their inheritance. Imagine the girls surprise when the boys get pardoned by the governor. What follows is the boys attempt to fit into their brides social lifestyle and their inevitable pie fight at an exclusive dinner. The condition of this poster is quite nice despite a few condition flaws. The lower fourth of the center vertical fold was separated at one time and has now been reinforced with archival tissue tape on the verso. The same applies to a fold separation on the right half of the middle horizontal fold. There is an extra vertical crease as the poster was folded one additional time. There were pinholes in both upper corners and in the lower right corner. The crossfolds have very slight paper loss, some minor stains are just under the Stooges credit and there is a slight chip off of the upper left corner. Since the Stooges were primarily featured in short subjects, the principal paper produced for these shorts consisted of one style one sheet and a set of lobby cards. The one sheets for these shorts are among the most sought after in the hobby as the Stooges have attained a cult-like status. And of these posters, any featuring Curly are considered the best. Curly Howard was with the team for their prime period (1932-1947) until a massive stroke forced him into early retirement. He and the other two Stooges are featured twice on this rare poster. This is considered one of the teams very best sh
