Caption:
Mickey (FBO, 1918). One Sheet (27 X 41). , As a teenager, Mabel Normand began working as a model in New York, then transitioned to pictures, working for Vitagraph and Biograph studios, before making the move with Mack Sennett to his newly founded studio - Keystone. It is here that her acting career took off in hundreds of comedy shorts, some of which she co-starred with Charles Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle, and occasionally directed. Her popularity quickly grew and audiences fell in love with the high-energy beauty. This romantic comedy represents Normands first starring role in a full-length feature film, which she co-produced with Mack Sennett. It became one of her most successful films, grossing over $18 million, a record at the time, which would remain unsurpassed until 1937 and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Here Normand stars as the bubbly and untamed orphan Mickey, who is snubbed by her Eastern relatives after they realize her inherited gold mine has never paid off. Her sparkling personality and natural performance really carry the picture. Offered here is an extremely rare one sheet which has been linen-backed, but has very little affecting its condition: only small tears at the right border, and fold wear. A multi-colored and delicately rendered stone litho portrait of the screen legend, this is one important poster that should not be passed up. Very Fine on Linen.
