Caption:
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Columbia, 1939). One Sheet (27 X 41) Style B. , Frank Capra directs James Stewart in one of his most beloved roles as Jefferson Smith, a naive young man appointed to fill a vacant Senate seat. He quickly learns the realities of Washington politics when he befriends a cynical reporter played by Jean Arthur, and goes up against a political machine led by his personal hero, another senator played by Claude Rains. An honest man in a sea of corruption, Smiths simple goodness and integrity win the day in the end. A perennial favorite, the film boasts three different versions of the one sheet, all of which are always in high demand. The style B offered here is a first for Heritage. Before professional restoration, it had minor tape stains in the title area, fold wear, crossfold separation, and surface paper loss on the verso. Light touchup and airbrushing have been applied, and the poster now displays very well. Fine on Linen.
