Play Safe! (Path??, 1927). One Sheet (27 X 41) Style B. , A new offering from Heritage, this fun loving stone litho Style B one sheet hails from the comedy romp Play Safe! . Mario Bianchi (Monty) Banks left his native Italy in 1914 to forge an entertainment career in America, starting with a stint in stage musicals. Capitalizing on his comedic gifts, Banks starred in a slew of comedy shorts and feature films during the 1920s. Play Safe! was one of his most successful, a film that featured an exhilarating runaway train sequence. The actor relocated to England in 1928 and married musical comedy star Gracie Fields, whom he directed in a handful of pictures. A Heritage first, this stone litho one sheet features Banks and co-star Virginia Lee Corbin, an heiress he tries to rescue from a dastardly estate trustee. The Style A one sheet to this short is also presented in the November 2014 Signature Auction. The poster has benefited from professional restoration, with touchup to the folds and edges, and chips and tears in the borders and crossfolds. Fine+ on Linen.
