Caption:
Sally (First National, 1929). One Sheet (27 X 41). , Originally presented in 100% two color Technicolor, today the complete film survives only in black and white, with a singular musical number in color. It was only the third all-talking, all-color movie ever made, and was based on the Broadway hit produced by Florenz Ziegfeld starring Marilyn Miller. Ms. Miller reprises the title character here, an orphan who takes up dancing and manages to end up on Broadway. Joe E. Brown plays a Grand Duke who is down on his luck, and the two are radiant on this gorgeous stone litho one sheet. The piece displays very well, with only edge and fold wear, tape in the right border and verso, extra vertical folds, and small paper lifts in the image area. Miller only made three films before her untimely death several years later, making this rare one sheet with her visage quite a find! Fine/Very Fine.
