Caption:
Scarlet Seas (First National, 1928). One Sheet (27 X 41). This gorgeous stone litho poster advertised a vehicle for one of the true stars of the silent era, Richard Barthelmess. Barthelmess had starred in early Griffith films such as Broken Blossoms and Way Down East. He would later began to produce his own films and remain a star with First National throughout the twenties. It co-starred Betty Compson and a very young Loretta Young. This film was made right on the cusp of the sound era and this sheet, called the B style, may have been the silent version and the A style a sound version. Fine+.
