Caption:
Spitfire (RKO, 1942). One Sheet (27 X 41) Style A. Originally released in Great Britain as The First of the Few, this film stars Leslie Howard (who also directed) as R.J. Mitchell, the inventor of the Spitfire fighter plane. Mitchell suspected that Hitler had plans to conquer Europe by air, and began plans to develop his aircraft long before anyone else saw the necessity. Ironically, Howard never got to see the release of his film; while traveling between London and Lisbon, his plane was shot down by the Germans. This gorgeous poster, with incredible color saturation, is in nearly perfect condition. From the collection of Jim Ashton. Near Mint-.
