Caption:
The 9th Guest (Columbia, 1934). One Sheet (27 X 41). , Prior to starring in this crime thriller, Donald Cook was known for playing Mike Powers in the wildly successful The Public Enemy. In The 9th Guest, Cook and leading lady Genevieve Tobin are two of eight strangers invited to a Manhattan penthouse apartment by a mystery host. Upon arrival, the servants are dismissed and all doors and windows automatically locked. Hair-raising twists and turns ensue, leaving the audience to wonder, who will be lucky enough to survive? A tremulous Tobin looks adequately distressed, clutching Cook on the eye-catching stone litho one sheet offered here. The piece shows very nicely after restoration addressed some minor imperfections, with touchup applied to small areas of the folds and small chips in the right border, and left border and background. This gorgeous and striking one sheet has never been offered by Heritage before and is assuredly a very rare poster. Fine+ on Linen.
