Caption:
The Cats Nine Lives (Bray Studios, 1927). One Sheet (27 X 41). Bray Studios began making animated shorts in 1913 and would continue until the beginning of the sound era in 1928. Walter Lantz, this shorts director, would go on to fame as the creator of Woody Woodpecker. Clyde Geronimi, who started as an assistant animator for Bray, would eventually work for Walt Disney where he was in charge of the Pluto cartoons during the 1940s. The poster is also unusual in that the art was signed by Clyde Geronimi. Studios rarely allowed their artists names to appear on the posters artwork. Chips on the upper right and left edges, a torn corner that has been reattached on the lower left, and a couple of tears into the right side. There is a blemish on the cats mouth. The poster has been mounted on linen and professionally restored, giving it a very clean appearance. Rolled, Very Fine on Linen.
