Caption:
The Great Lie (Warner Brothers, 1941). One Sheet (27 X 41). , Although this rarely sold one sheet depicts a tender moment between stars Bette Davis and George Brent, The Great Lie is an intense melodrama filled with plenty of jealousy, deceit and histrionics. Stars Bette Davis and Mary Astor were reportedly unhappy with the quality of the original screenplay, so they rewrote the script together, and submitted it to director Edmund Goulding, who used much of their rewritten work in the final version. What resulted was an intriguing and twisted live triangle between socialite (Davis), a brilliant concert pianist (Astor) and dashing playboy aviator (George Brent). This lot presents an opportunity to own a hard to find piece in exceptional condition, which prior to restoration only showed pinholes, fold wear, small tears in the right border, and small chip in the left border. Very Fine- on Linen.
